On my daily walk down Spring Street through the Old Bank District, I am constantly gazing up at buildings, peering down alleys, and glancing at the sidewalk, appreciating the beautiful grime of downtown. And everyday I see something unexpectedly alluring like the
Alexandria Hotel on Spring Street (see Beatrice Neumann's sneak peek inside
here), the sunburst on the sidewalk that marks my bus stop, and the KRKD radio tower atop the Arcade Building (broadcasting from 1932 to 1961). Now when I see something great, I stop, look and take a picture. I can't do this when I'm driving through the streets especially when I am freakishly stressed at traffic, other drivers, and the thought of hitting a bus, which by the way I have done right smack in front of Pershing Square. Yeah, walking is the best. In fact, she's the greatest.
Here's Spring Street on a Wednesday afternoon.
